How to Succeed in Network and Target Group Participation

Quality standards are especially important for networks. One such example is the “Quality Framework Frühe Hilfe” from the Nationales Zentrum Frühe Hilfen established in 2016. Dr. Birgit Böhm spoke about this issue at a workshop entitled “Developing Quality in the Frühe Hilfe Network” sponsored by the Behörde für Arbeit, Soziales, Familie und Integration - Amt für Familie und Hamburgische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Gesundheitsförderung e. V. (HAG). The focus of the workshop was on the answers to questions like: How are successful quality standards developed in the Frühe Hilfe Network? How do I handle the question of quality in network coordination? How can parents be involved in developing quality of services?

“Democracy 4.0” Article Published

On behalf of the Academy for Good Governance and Empowerment in Europe (AGREE), Dr. Birgit Böhm published an article entitled “Democracy 4.0: Citizen Participation Processes. A German case study.” The article is available in three languages on the AGREE website (English, German, and Ukrainian). Click here to download the article.

Dr. Birgit Böhm on Innovative Combinations of Processes

Dr. Birgit Böhm has published widely on the idea that innovative combinations of processes can be used to link together the advantages of various participatory processes (See her publications here She presented these ideas in a talk entitled “More Courage for Citizen Participation through Process Combination: A Plea for the Combining of Direct, Deliberative, and Parliamentary Democracy” (“Mehr Mut zur Bürgerbeteiligung durch innovative Verfahrenskombinationen. Ein Plädoyer für die Verknüpfung direkter, deliberativer und parlamentarischer Demokratie”) on 16.06.2016 in Potsdam. The Deutsche Institut für Urbanistik difu workshop was entitled “Exchanging Experiences in Participation Culture: Citizen Participation - a Way towards More or Less Direct Democracy?” (“Erfahrungsaustausch Beteiligungskultur: Bürgerbeteiligung - ein Weg zu mehr oder weniger direkter Demokratie?”). Lecture “Developing Quality through Participation”

High quality can and should be achieved not only by expert knowledge, but also by including participatory processes. Dr. Birgit Böhm expanded on this thesis during her lecture at the 2nd “Participatory Quality Development – Approaches in Prevention and Health Promotion” workshop (“Partizipative Qualitätsentwicklung – ein Ansatz in Gesundheitsförderung und Prävention”) on 01.06.2016 in Düsseldorf. The workshop was presented by the Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung des Landeszentrums Gesundheit Nordrhein-Westfalen professional group.
